Hydroponic City Proposed For Las Vegas Food Service Industry

For Immediate Release – October 11, 2010 – (Las Vegas, NV), Growponics Americas, LLC – http://www.growponicsamericas.com. A major Hydroponic City of more than 60-acres of greenhouses to grow leafy greens (fancy lettuces and all herbs), as well as vine plants (tomatoes, melons, cucumbers, sweet and hot peppers), and strawberries is coming to Nevada. The aim is to supply the Nevada food service and grocery market with produce that is the safer, fresher, healthier, more colorful, cleaner, and “grown-local,” for immediate delivery, from the growing beds to table/ store on a “Deliver Anytime” market strategy. Growponics Nevada, LLC, owners of the Hydroponic City, is bringing “The Future of Agriculture to You Today.”

Our system is a unique, Israeli, concentrated-growth, floating-bed system that is being introduced to North America for the first time. Growponics can offer buyers healthy, hydroponic, high quality vegetables, herbs and fruits at competitive market prices, delivered from a local source. The target market is the restaurant, hotel, and grocery store industry. While most organic fruits and vegetables are sold and very high prices, the Growponics’ system can bring its high quality produce to the marketplace at competitive market prices similar to field-grown crops, and can be supplied 365-days a year. This gives consumers an affordable and clean/ healthy option to field-grown crops that have many health risks, and are not environmentally-friendly.

With closely controlled environmental conditions, there is no need for harmful chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and reverse osmosis (RO) filtration insures the water used is free of pathogenic bacteria, all of which are current major health issues with field-grown crops. The produce is dirt, sand, grit and dust free, requires no chemical washing, has a longer shelf-life, no damage from weather stress, and has better color and crispness, better flavor and consistent quality.

Growponics’ focus is to grow the produce near the market (grown local) to greatly reduce carbon miles, save up to 80% in water use, and provide safe and healthy vegetables and fruits, at affordable prices. The first facility in Nevada is scheduled to build in January with produce reaching the marketplace by late spring 2011.
